In 2014 the Charles City FFA was the beneficiary of a monetary gift from Gil and Donna White to construct a building at the Floyd County Fairgrounds that would benefit FFA and non-livestock exhibitors during the fair. The Floyd County Fair Board has agreed to take the project a step further and build upon the gift from Gil and Donna and create a fully functional year round facility that will benefit all of the youth of Floyd County. The Floyd County Youth Enrichment Center will become a place to host county wide educational events, workshops, weddings, commercial exhibits, and seminars. The multi-purpose facility will be funded entirely through private donations and grants. “Our ability to raise additional funds will determine the size and scope of the final project.” according to steering committee member Amy Staudt. The goal of the committee is to have funds pledged and construction begin by August of 2015 and be fully functional by Fair of 2016. Fair Board Member Craig Anderson said “ This will be a top-notch facility that will serve as a hub for the Floyd County Fair.” Charles City FFA member Hanna Bjelica said, “This will be a great opportunity for the youth of Floyd County. I am excited to be a part of the planning and building process of the building. Our ultimate vision is to educate and inspire and motivate youth to grow succeed and lead the nation. “
